Daniel and I were in London on Monday to interview Lord Stevenson and Alison Bennett from the Cabinet Office for Running Your Group LIVE. I think this online event, on how to nominate someone for an honour, was the best we have done. Dennis Stevenson, who has just stepped down as Chair of the Arts & Media Honours Committee, was incredibly enthusiastic and encouraging. He urged voluntary arts groups to nominate those individuals who have given remarkable service and achieved such amazing impacts in communities across the country, to ensure they are properly recognised. Alison gave a wonderfully clear explanation of how to go about nominating someone for an honour. She also gave valuable advice on ‘tactics’ to ensure your nomination has the best chance of success. Running Your Group users from across the UK joined us live online and were able to put questions directly to Dennis and Alison. The video recording of our interview is now available to watch in the ‘Live online events’ section of Running Your Group, at: http://login.runningyourgroup.org/course/view.php?id=302 and should be essential viewing for anyone considering making a nomination.
