On Thursday afternoon I was at the New Vic Theatre in Newcastle-under-Lyme to meet the Stoke-on-Trent Creative People and Places consortium. The consortium’s planned 3-year programme to increase engagement in the arts is based on a food analogy and will involve ‘taster menus’, ‘pavement cafés’, ‘picnics’ and ‘barbecues’. We had an incredibly interesting and positive discussion about the role of local amateur arts groups in the programme and identified a range of exciting possibilities.
