I was in London on Thursday where I chaired a meeting of the Cultural Campaigning Network. This is a forum for national organisations involved in campaigning on cultural issues. It’s always really useful to update each other on our current campaigns and lobbying activities and to hear about new pieces of research. I outlined the Voluntary Arts plan to campaign for renewed national cultural policies to sustain and develop local cultural infrastructure. The meeting also included a substantial discussion about the ‘Rebalancing Our Cultural Capital Report’ by Peter Stark, David Powell and Christopher Gordon (http://www.theroccreport.co.uk/) and a look at the new Arts Council England publication ‘Towards Plan A: a new political economy for arts and culture’ – see: http://www.artscouncil.org.uk/media/uploads/pdf/RSA-Arts-Towards-Plan-A.pdf
